I'm not sure why there are so many of the 'boringly evil' category though; it always feels unnecessary... Yeah, it's a shame. I suppose it comes from a combination of lazy (or pressed-for-time) writing, and maybe some of the censorship issues saying "make sure the viewers realize this person is BAD," who knows, not me. It does make the villains with nuance even more valuable and interesting to watch, though!
