I hadn't thought that far. (Now I'm also really curious about how the book reads to a reader who is a believing Christian of whatever denomination, because I feel like they'd have another take (or several) on it again.) Anyway, thank you for the really illuminating discussion! It's on my "to reread soon" pile, and I expect to have some more ideas/feelings about it the second time through.
