Happy New Year, and please God a happier one all around.

For all 2020 was 2020, I had a comparatively easier one than most, with a lot of good things in it, large and small, for which I am most grateful--the people closest to me ending the year safe and well (knock wood), finishing a novel draft, learning some Chinese, discovering some good music new to me, Zhu Yilong and Seong-Jin Cho, a kind community on Dreamwidth and so on.

The New Year's holiday is usually a time when I treat myself to things I've been avoiding the rest of the year so as not to spoil them (or myself)--rereading a bunch of my favorite books and fics (some of both written by people on my f-list, much appreciated), lots of chocolate (which I try to avoid except on special occasions... envying German friends with access to all the Ritter Sport), this year rewatching the Lost Tomb thing, and so on. One way and another the process usually lasts well into January and it's a great comfort.

Ohh! The leaves were different enough from the ones on our orange trees I thought it had to be something else.

You know what, I went back and looked at the picture and I think I told a lie: I think they're actually the little ones, 金柑, um...not loquats, the other ones...kumquats. Maybe that's why the leaves are different?

You're the second person on my flist to be thankful for finding Zhu Yilong. :D (And then there's myself.) I really hope that he has things in his life that make him happy, too. I'm glad that he's a private enough person that we don't know one way or the other.

DON'T TEMPT ME. Seriously, that is so nice of you. I'm trying to not eat chocolate on a regular basis (just special occasions, like New Year's...) but I will keep your offer in mind if I ever really need it! <3
