・I realized that in Chinese a radish is a pineapple backward, and vice versa. (Of course it isn't, the bo characters are different, but still.) 萝卜 ⇄ 菠萝. (omigod, imagine WWX and the Wens growing pineapples in the Burial Mounds?).

guardian_learning Chinese daily study seems to be thriving, 很开心。 I expect the participants and discussion/practice will vary widely depending on who is around on any given day, which seems okay!
・I'm sure variations of this joke have been made MANY times, but I found this line in a paper I was translating to be somewhat, er, titillating: "...the long tongue of urbanisation was already extending west of London as far as Maidenhead.”
・eight_of_cups very kindly introduced me to the Sticky Notes classical music podcast, I've been going through the back catalog a little at a time and enjoying the combination of erudition and enthusiasm. Passing it forward, here's one for elenothar in particular: https://stickynotespodcast.libsyn.com/the-connection-between-language-and-music-w-yundu-wang . (I have not yet managed to listen to this episode myself yet but I'm looking forward to it, and the description sounds like your thing...).
・Everyone seems to be struggling a bit in the back end of winter (or summer as the case may be); here's some more Winifred Holtby for comfort and amusement, two things she was good at amid her own struggles.
