those sleeves were invented on the spot by the costume department because Zhu Yilong had broken out in hives (sun allergy or something) due to having been in the sun too long while they were filming this.
I just rewatched this episode today, and having just learned this from you means I couldn't stop staring at the sleeves. His poor arms! (Zhu Yilong, there is such a thing as TOO MUCH METHOD ACTING.)
