明けおめ!
Happy New Year, 新年快乐! I'm very grateful, this year as well, for knowing so many amazing people on DW--people I talk with almost daily, people whose posts I read but hardly ever manage to comment on, all invaluable and much appreciated. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, fulfilling year to come. <3
·Although technically it doesn't count until the Lunar New Year, I remembered this morning to say "Rabbit, rabbit!" on two counts.
·I will make a separate Yuletide post later on; for the moment, just a note to say that I got a gorgeous gift, continuing my streak of good fortune both for Yuletide and for the fandom; I also wrote three fics and got some nice comments from recipients and others, so I'm pretty satisfied overall! Not even halfway through reading the collection, so I'll wait on posting until I have more to say.
·To see the new year in with something cheerful, have the Moszkowski violin concerto--you don't even need to listen to all of it, but the opening is the happiest thing I can imagine.
·Japan does the Ninth at New Year's and we went to hear it--if I practice the bassoon a lot more, maybe somebody will let me try playing the contrabassoon? I love its sound SO MUCH. Unrelatedly, I was amused that my Chinese brain kicked in at the wonderful "Brüder!" chorus in the middle, subtitling 兄弟!
·In rare cheerful news, see this response to a six-year-old petitioner: "I commend your sense of responsible pet ownership to seek permission in advance to keep a unicorn in Los Angeles County."
·With Yuletide etc. over, I'm feeling motivated to work on book 2 of my original thing for the first time in ages, with themes and ideas sliding into place with one another. About 700 words yesterday, the most in ages, and I'm going to try for a steady 500 words a day for a while--if you talk to me, nag me about it! I have a post about writing in general I want to make also, give it a few days.
·My project order-new-books has been amazingly successful so far--delivery to Japan in less than two weeks, in this day and age?--and I have a mouthwatering stack that I'm working through slowly, post to come later too. Also, my favorite manga updated for the first time in AGES, Oofuri, and this volume is the easygoing slice-of-life version that I love best--lots of small details and character work, with an Abe/Mihashi moment slipped in there too.
Photos: Mostly self-explanatory, lots of bridge photos.
Be safe and well.

Yes, I feel the same--although I think the longest fic I've ever written still comes in under 20K, so maybe for people who write novel-length fics it's different. Or not. Anyway, post coming up when I have a moment, and thanks!

I'm looking forward to your Yuletide post! I should maybe make one, too...

Re: writing, I'll try to nag you--and have you tried the Write Every Day comm that I just hosted? It's at

I will try to keep up with Write Every Day for a change! It's a good resource to use, God knows.

God fortsättning = good continuation. This is what you say when it is getting too late to say Merry Christmas or Happy new year, but you're still feeling kind of in the holiday spirit. : )

Oh man, you're so much better about commenting than I am! And you're also posting at
I also wrote three fics
Oh wow, nice! I only managed one for Yuletide this year. I had some treat ideas, but they just never materialized.
Cheering you on for your original thing! :)

Seriously I appreciate your Dreamwidth presence so much. <3
Thank you <3 it's mutual! Quality over quantity in your case. And writing encouragement also much appreciated!

Aww, the cheerful news link was a delight. <3
I'm drawn to the bottom row of photographs this time -- the bridges and street -- though of course I always appreciate a cat and the colorful flowers.
Good luck with the writing goals! I second the recommendation of Write Every Day. I stopped checking in on it in 2022 and ended up regretting that choice. I'll be hosting it in February, after

Thank you for interesting comments! Always much appreciated (although no pressure :))
I do mean to try with Write Every Day again! Good to hear you'll be hosting it too, much easier when it's someone on my f-list anyway...

Ohhh, the cheerful news is so cute! I love the certificate too; so pretty. <3
Orange kitty and orange...oranges! And the orange rose! (also notrose is very pretty too, and the caption made me laugh. :p)
I really love the combination of organic and non-organic shapes, too and the color atching per row; they're so pretty in a grid. :D
And good luck with writing, and the bassoon!

I just put on the violin concerto and you're right, it's joyful. I think I got confused with the Ninth because in the UK my choir always did a Christmas Beethoven's Ninth. Clearly it's just the piece for An Occasion.

I think you have to have An Occasion to put on the Ninth because otherwise it's too damn expensive and cumbersome, honestly (soloists, choir, large orchestra for Classical era, etc., you know the score). If it's for New Year's or Christmas, it works!
