Reading through your orchestra blogging -- I just had a thought: have you read The Mozart Season by Virginia Euwer Wolff? 90's middle-grade novel that provided a fascinating glimpse for me into the experience of being a classical musician. The protagonist is a 12-year-old violin prodigy playing her first concerto competition, and also coming of age in other ways. She's also Jewish -- patrilineally, and it's not a big part of her life, but connecting with her Jewish heritage is important to her.
