My favorite translation of poetry is this: Shakespeare's sonnets translated by Stanisław Barańczak. That guy was a genius. A very good poet, but most of all a very, very talented and hardworking translator from the English language. He translated a lot, and all of it (at least what I've read of his work, and I've read quite a lot) was wonderful. He translated the most of Shakespeare's plays (26 I think?), too and these are also my favorite translations of Shakespeare's plays. And The Tyger by William Blake - I love that poem and Barańczak's translation is ingenious. It gives me shiver of pleasure every time I read it. :) Heh, sorry for this panegyric, I just really love the guy.
